Leadership Development

Each of us is a leader.  Leadership is how we influence others – It’s not a position.  Leadership may also be a skill we need to learn – we may never have been taught how to be a leader. 


Maya Angelou once said;

“I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

The essence of this statement is the definition of leadership.  So ask yourself these questions:

  • Do I influence people in a positive manner?  OR Do I influence people in a negative manner?

  • What is my usual attitude?  Happy, Joy-filled, Positive, Negative, Angry, Sad, etc.

  • Do I normally see the problems of the world?  OR Do I see the opportunities of the world?

Your answers to these questions will give you an idea of how you influence others and what type of leader you might be.  Please don’t confuse leadership and management.  They’re different, but sometimes they integrate, especially if you happen to have a leadership position.  Leadership comes from the inside – it is at the core of the person we are created to be.
