Getting Rid of the Noise Part I

What’s the noise in your life?

When I think about getting rid of the noise in my life the first thought is turning off the TV, radio, the PC, the internet, phone, etc. Those are all the external noises and yes, I have to turn those off first before I can get to the noise that really prevents me from calming down and feeling the peace that I truly crave.

So, just what is the noise that really prevents me from calming down?

In order to answer that question, I really have to dig deep – I’ll need to answer questions like:

What are the contradictions in my life?

Where do I say one thing and do another?

What am I afraid of?

What makes me mad?

And, what’s the underlying insecurity behind that anger?

How do I try to control my own life?

How do I try to control others?

What are my values in life?

What is the name of my shadow dragon?

Whew! I’m not sure it’s possible to answer all these questions.

It is possible – but not in one sitting. Answering these questions can be a lifelong journey. Getting rid of the noise is a day by day, minute by minute task. And, just when I think I have something figured out something happens to let me know I don’t.

I guess what I’m trying to say here is the journey to getting rid of the noise is one we all need to travel, however, we won’t finish it until we reach the next life.
